About me

After defending my PhD thesis in September 2010, I'm now a postdoctoral researcher in the Daniel Lab at the University of Washington. Our lab is broadly interested in how insects fly and navigate (from aerodynamics to sensory systems). I'm using a neuroethological approach to investigate how moths use vision and mechanoreception to stabilize flight. You'll find more detailed information about my project on the research page.

Why "amphioxus.org"?

Sometime 1995 or early 1996 I took my first comparative physiology class at the University of Vienna. We were just covering lancelets, or, as they are also known, amphioxus when I signed up for my very first Yahoo! account. So, naturally, "amphioxus" was what came to mind when having to choose a user ID, and it stuck.
